Technical information on the wadding
We use 100% polyester wadding (100% recycled) weighing 125 g/m2 in the body and 100 g/m2 in the sleeves and hood.
The wadding is made from silicone-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight. It retains its warmth even when wet.
Durable materials
This polyamide fabric that uses 20 denier thread can withstand 20,000 abrasion cycles.
Martindale test, 12947-2 standard
Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 39g/sqm, 20 denier
Lining: 100% polyester fabric 35g/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads
Do you know why the inner lining of your padded jacket is grey?
Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%.
The fabric of this lining is innovative because it is a fabric known as biton. This is a mixture of black yarn, dyed using a mass pigmentation process, and non-dyed yarn.
Compared to a classic dyeing process, this process reduces by:
• 66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5)
• 74% Eutrophication of fresh water
• 68% eutrophication of sea water
Our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint
On the black MT100 model, the outer fabric uses a clean dyeing process known as dope dyeing (the thread is dyed before the yarn is woven), reducing CO2 emissions by 36%.

Water repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm.
The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment’s lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products are available for this purpose in our stores.
What is a PFC-free water-repellent treatment?
Our water repellent treatment contains no PFCs (perfluorocarbons), i.e. PFC-Free. PFCs are used to make fabric water-repellent, however they are toxic to the environment and people. By replacing the PFCs with other technologies that we are developing to enable the same level of performance, we are helping to reduce this environmental impact.
Valuable advice for improving the durability of your down jacket!
In general, do not wash a down jacket too frequently because each wash decreases its thermal properties.
HOW TO REPAIR YOUR PADDED JACKET IF IT HAS A TEAR?
While you’re trekking, your padded jacket could get a tear in it, but the good news is that it can be repaired! You can either mend it or apply a heat-bonded patch so that the tear doesn’t get any bigger and the synthetic fibres escape.
Don’t you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don’t worry! Some of our in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service for your padded jackets.
A score for comparing products’ environmental impact
The product’s environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of this environmentally-friendly labelling approach.
